Indian hospitality meets British tradition in a grand former school by Tower Bridge, London

In the early-19th century, this stately red brick building in central London started life as St. Olave’s Grammar School. Today, school lessons have been swapped for city breaks, following a careful transformation into a boutique hotel. From its warm welcome to stylish interiors, The LaLiT London shows that among luxury retreats, it comes top of the class.

Past and present, east and west, all mingle at The LaLiT London. The exterior spells neo-baroque British opulence. Inside, rich colours and contemporary furnishings proudly evoke this boutique hotel brand’s Indian origins. The rooms and suites echo this fusion of cultures, with original features balanced with Indian artworks commissioned exclusively for The LaLiT London. While at Rejuve spa, western therapies fuse with eastern traditions for a wonderfully relaxing experience. Elsewhere, the hotel twists its studious heritage into something entirely fresh – from a school hall turned stylish Pan-Indian restaurant, to the Teacher’s Room cocktail bar.

Most comfortable stay

From the moment you walk through the door you feel looked after. Check in was a smooth process and we were whisked up to our room efficiently. I was celebrating my birthday, that the bought a small treat for us and it really made me smile. The staff always had a smile on their face. We had a slight issue Read more[SPLIT]Read lesswith the bathroom drainage but that was solved quickly and the stay overall was perfect. The bed was so comfy and I could not fault anything. We were perfectly located in London for what we wanted to do and would recommend the hotel to anyone. Another Small Luxury hotel exceeding my expectations.

Luxury hotel with a very friendly approach

It was my husband's birthday and extras in our room (wine, chocolates and birthday cake) were a lovely touch that was much appreciated. The concierge took time to highlight local hot spots etc.

Food And Drinks

This is school dining with a difference. At The LaLiT London, the cavernous assembly hall has been transformed into Baluchi at The Great Hall, serving a contemporary take on traditional regional Indian cuisine. At one end, the Naanery prepares freshly baked breads in the tandoor oven. While among the peacock blue heights of The Gallery, the table is set for afternoon tea. After dark, an energetic buzz draws you to the Teacher’s Room for a cocktail. Or there’s the plush armchairs, baroque features and fine cognacs to discover in the Headmaster’s Room.

Baluchi

Served Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Set in the historic Grade II listed former St. Olave Grammar School assembly hall- Baluchi strives to serve a contemporary take on impeccably executed Indian dishes. Our vibrant menu takes inspiration from the major food regions of India to carefully craft elegant cuisine- made from the finest organic ingredients. A blend of ethnic culinary delights within the majestic Great Hall creates an unprecedented dining experience in the heart of London.

Spa

The rest of The LaLiT London may evoke its 19th century setting, but Rejuve spa is a pure, contemporary escape. The treatments incorporate western wellness traditions and eastern philosophy to create signature therapies. Ayurvedic techniques sooth mind and spirit while treating the body, for total relaxation.
