Find out more about one of our favourite members of staff, Rosa Mattos Moll. She has worked in our Account Management team for nearly 10 years and brings her bubbly, Brazilian personality to all those lucky enough to meet her…
1. Tell us about yourself. Where are you from?
I am originally from Brazil, half of my family is from Maceió in the Northeast Region and the other half from Rio de Janeiro. Like most Brazilians we have multicultural ancestors and my grandfather, from my Dad’s side, was Portuguese and my grandmother Syrian-Lebanese. From my Mum’s side, my great grandparents were Italian – a true mix!
2. What is your role at SLH and what is your favourite thing about it?
I am a Senior Revenue Account Manager for SLH, EMEA covering Portugal, Turkey, Serbia, Africa and for obvious reasons, Brazil. My job begins when a hotel joins the company – training, guidance, promotion and engagement. We do it all! I would have to say my favourite thing about my job, is being a part of each of my hotel’s success!
3. What has been your best experience when visiting an SLH hotel?
I have visited many different SLH hotels and I’m lucky enough to have experienced several great experiences. I could name one for spa, one for gourmet, one for service, and one for the view!
There’s nothing like a warm and friendly welcome, when it’s clear the staff really want to make your stay special. When I arrived at Hôtel Les Ottomans in Istanbul for example, I got to my room and there was a personalised robe which had been embroidered with my name on it!
I spent another special few days at D-Resort Göcek in Turkey, where we dined al fresco looking out over the stunning view. One of their restaurants sits right on the water and you can see the fish swimming all around you. It was an unforgettable experience!
At Ariana Sustainable Luxury Lodge in Cappadocia, Turkey I watched hundreds of hot air balloons from the balcony of my room in the early hours of the morning. It was such an amazing experience – I snapped so many stunning photos. I even got to take a trip in a hot air balloon myself, looking out over the ancient hills of Cappadocia!
I can never name just one favourite experience – there are just too many!
4. What SLH hotel do you most want to visit?
For the ultimate relaxation, it would have to be Petit St. Vincent in St. Vincent & The Grenadines or Baros Maldives. Both resorts inhabit their own private islands, dreamy!
5. Which is your favourite city and why?
I have a few… London, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Sintra. But most importantly the city where I was born, Maceió in Alagoas, Brazil. You won’t find beaches with this colour sea anywhere else in the world!
6. Which destination do you most want to visit and why?
I would have to say Cuba, I want to see it before it changes its very essence.
7. What is your favourite hobby, outside of work?
Definitely dancing! I’ve danced all styles including ballet, contemporary and Latin. I’ve performed professionally with Basement Jaxx, including joining them on tour in the UK and abroad as well as TV appearances. I’ve danced on the Brit Awards and for Will Smith, Jaimeson, Pet Shop Boys, S club 7, U2 and many more!
8. Describe an average day working at SLH
Busy, busy, busy! We are the first point of contact for all of our hotels – mixing different nationalities, time-zones and everything in between!
9. How do you bring a piece of Brazil to SLH?
Brazil will always be in my heart and I bring a bit of its vibrant feeling with my lively and bubbly personality. I always have a smile on my face and you certainly know when I’m around!
