Introducing Val Thorens
Circled by soaring peaks and sweeping valleys, Val Thorens is the jewel in the crown of the Alpine ski scene. The highest resort in Europe sees snow settle from December to May, creating a wonderland for thrill seekers of all abilities. The exhilarating ski runs are far from its only charms, with the vast Three Valleys region to explore year round. Then there are cosy firesides waiting in restaurants and luxury boutique hotels.
A vibrant resort high up in the Alps, above the spectacular Belleville Valley.
In winter, Val Thorens and the Three Valleys become snowsports playgrounds. Ski your way through hundreds of miles of runs, or brush up your technique in a private class. Head off-piste on a cross-country tour, or, for something different, join a guided glacier walk. In summer, swap white snow for white water and go rafting or kayaking on the region’s rivers.
Val Thorens offers plenty of fun pastimes for children of all ages. Little ones can enjoy sledging, splashing about in the local pool, or getting involved in snowman building contests. Families with older kids could take a hair-raising ride on the world’s highest zipwire, which flies over the Belleville Valley. When it’s warm, book a canyoning tour to climb up (and slide back down) waterfalls.
From world-class races to local craft markets, there’s always something going on in Val Thorens. Watch pro skiers, snowboarders and even Raleigh drivers take on the snow. Be part of the magical torch lit parades leading up to Christmas, or try your hand at ice sculpting. On long summer evenings, look out for open-air concerts around the resort.
While in Val Thorens, ski over to Orelle – also known as the ‘Secret Valley’. Look out on glorious views across the mountains, or seek out the frozen waterfall and watch the ice climbers.
