Introducing Beaune

The capital of the Burgundy wine region, Beaune is nevertheless about so much more than vines. Step out from your luxury hotel and explore a picturesque walled town, with multi-coloured roofs and charming narrow streets. The Hotel-Dieu is well worth a visit, and while you’re here you simply have to get out into the surrounding countryside to taste the region’s famous vintages.

Things to do

SHOPPING
Like many French towns and cities, Beaune still holds its traditional weekly market on Saturdays in the centre of town. Early morning is the best time to get here, where you’ll have your pick of the local goods and souvenirs.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES
The town centre of Beaune is wonderfully compact, but if the children’s legs are tired look out for the VisioTrain. This open train tours around all the sights. It leaves from the Hotel-Dieu throughout the day and takes about 50 minutes – perfect for a relaxing spot of sightseeing.

WINE
Beaune and your luxury hotel put you in the heart of French viniculture territory. If you like your reds deep and flavoursome, this is the home of pinot noir, while the whites tend to be chardonnays. Book a trip to a local winery and indulge your taste buds.
