HISTORY
Port-en-Bessin sits in an area rich in historical significance. Visit surrounding beaches such as Omaha to see where the Allied forces landed on D Day, or the vast cemeteries with their humbling rows of white crosses. Looking further back in time, nearby Bayeux is home to the Bayeux Tapestry, the ambitious, hand-stitched depiction of William the Conqueror’s invasion of England in the 11th century.

DAY TRIPS
While in Port-en-Bessin, venture out to uncover more of Normandy’s many charms. You could stride across the tidal causeway to Mont Saint-Michel, with its historic abbey towering above the island. Or travel to pretty Honfleur to the east. Stroll along the harbour side, past brightly painted merchant houses, and dine on delicious French cuisine in a waterfront restaurant.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES
There are plenty of options around Port-en-Bessin for a day out with the family. Explore the forest trails of the Regional Natural Park where, if you’re lucky, you’ll spot deer. Or head to the wide beaches and rolling sand dunes of the northern coast.
