Things to do

BEACHES
Ios has some of the most spectacular beaches in Greece – from secluded coves to sweeping, sandy bays. Just 2km from Chora, Mylopotas is regularly voted as one of the ‘top 10 beaches in Europe’ and is the ideal spot for chilling out or trying watersports. Even closer to home, Yialos beach is perfect for lounging or embarking on a cruise of the island.

CULTURE
Chora offers plenty of opportunities to sample authentic Greek culture. You could visit the tomb of the epic poet Homer, or delve into ancient history at the Archaeological Museum. Explore the quaint church of Panagia Gremniotissa or marvel at the 12 windmills of Ios. Round off your day by catching a performance at the Odysseas Elytis open-air amphitheatre.

NIGHTLIFE
Whether it’s a few chilled-out sundowners or a wild night of clubbing, Chora has it all. In the evening, crowds flock to the village’s bars, pubs and main square to party. You could put on your dancing shoes and join the throng or stay ‘up town’ and simply savour the views from the luxury of your private terrace.
