Introducing The Algarve

The Algarve is a fascinating mix of old and new. The beaches are sublime and offer lots of activities and refreshments, while inland the peaceful villages and towns offer you an authentic picture of what life must have been like for hundreds of years. And from energetic watersports to a relaxing round of golf, there’s so much to keep you entertained.

Things to do

WATER
Who knew there was so much fun to be had getting wet? Go on a dolphin watching tour, or hire a kayak to explore the coast. Dive at the incredible Ocean Revival Park, or perhaps have a go at kite surfing. If all that is too much, just lie back on the beach and admire the water from afar.

GOLF
Just 40 years or so ago someone had the idea that this might be a good area for a golf course. Fast track to today and you’ll find there are over 40 premium courses, many near your luxury hotel. A number of them are stunning, international venues favoured by top tier golfers. So bring your clubs along.

HISTORY
The old city of Lagos still has its defensive wall, and you’ll fall in love with its charming narrow streets. Try the fine dining at the restaurants here, packed with fresh Mediterranean flavours. And don’t miss a trip to Silves, with its majestic Moorish castle built from red stone.

Top Tip from SLH

The whole family can meet dolphins at Zoo Marine, where children over the age of six are allowed to swim in the pool with a dolphin.
