A 16th-century island haven set in lovely grounds overlooking the Baltic Sea, Pädaste Manor is a grand but homely Estonian hideaway promising excellent food, fantastic scenery, privacy, tranquillity and a unique selection of indigenous spa treatments.

Sounds of the sea fill each comfortable room at Pädaste Manor where private balconies are the best place to enjoy beautiful countryside and sea views. A separate farmhouse, in a pretty apple orchard with its own garden, provides an extra level of privacy and peace.

Wonderful retreat in a beautiful setting

It was second visit after 10 years of visiting various SLH Hotels. Pädaste Manor reminded me Melancholia, a movie by Lars von Trier. Location is quite similar to the old castle where much of the Melancholia´s action takes place: there is a seaside, greenery of a park, historicness of centuries old building and few humans playing their roles under the vast sky. Muhu Read more[SPLIT]Read lessisland (named Moon in Swedish and German) is not a easiest place to reach (unless one utilizes manors private helipad) and getting there requires some determination and at least 3 hours from Tallinn (4 hours from Riga) by car and ferry. Island is sparsely populated (wild boars probably match or outnumber Muhu human residents) and once you have arrived to this quite off the beaten track location it is easy to appreciate what a little bubble of comforts and civilization exists in the middle of green wilderness of woods.
